He decided to follow him to see where the bread was going. He saw him enter

the monastery's catholicon and close the door. He quickly ran to the window.

His eyes widened at what he saw. Saint Nouflios was

five or six years old when he found himself in a convent. Because he was small, he was hungry

more often than the others and would run to the refectory to ask for bread. The

refectory noticed that the child often took bread and disappeared.

He must be feeding some animal. He thought, and decided to follow him to see

where the bread was going. He saw him enter the monastery's catholicon and close

the door. He quickly ran to the window. His eyes widened at what he saw

. The little one was chatting with the infant Jesus in the iconostasis.

"I brought you a loaf of bread today too, but no one feeds you, not even

your mother." He reached out and gave him a slice of bread. The baby Jesus reached out

, took the bread. and the bread disappeared into the icon. The

waiter, with a soul full of surprise and awe, ran to the abbot. He told

the abbot about the incredible miracle his eyes had seen. The abbot gave

orders not to give the child any bread. When he would implore them to

tell him to go and ask the one you fed until yesterday. The next day,

little Noufrios saw that they were not giving him bread.

He immediately ran to the church and in front of the icon he spoke to Christoulis.

My Christoulis, they are not giving me bread. They told me to tell you to give me some of

yours. Now where you will find it I do not know. And the miracle baby

Jesus stretched out his hand from the arms of the Virgin Mary. He gave him a

huge loaf of bread so big that he could not lift it. It smelled so

musky that the heavenly aroma spread throughout the monastery and the surrounding area.

Surprised and amazed, the monks saw the five-year-old Onufrios take the

huge loaf out. Two monks ran to help. The heavenly

bread was very heavy. For many days they ate, they were full, but the bread was and remained

unspent. Since then, all the monks have

greatly revered little Onufrios. They knew that with his increasing age

his holiness would also increase. He would become a great saint, as he did.

Saint Onufrios ate from such heavenly bread for 60 whole years in the

desert. He lived without ever seeing a person, naked, covered by his long beard

and hair. M.
